The town planning and environment department has for a goal the planning and management of the territory.

The town planning table is the tool used by this service to ensure harmonious development of the territory. This plan stems from municipal regulations which allow to determine the norms of development on the territory (ex : construction). Building inspectors enforce these regulations.

The service also sees to the application of a long term development strategy with in mind resource management and the improvement of natural surroundings. With this come norms and regulations which, in certain domains such as the protection of river banks and shores, lakes and watercourses, must be enforced.
