In 1951, two years before being crowned queen, Princess Eslizabeth came to Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts in the company of her husband, the duke of Edinburg. During their visit, the couple sat in on a religious ceremony at the Holy Trinity Church.
The famous poet Gaston Miron is native of the town of Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts. He passed away in 1996 and his body rests in the village’s cemetery. To honour his name, the library has been named Bibliothèque Municipale Gaston-Miron.
