The revitalization of Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts’ downtown area
Since August 2004, the city of Sainte-Agathe des Monts has taken the necessary steps for the revitalization of its downtown area. This project is centered on three things:
-
Economic development
The town has put into place strategies which aim at improving the diversity of its businesses and the quality of services offered so that these changes may better serve the town’s residents’ and consumers’ needs.
-
Animation and promotion
Steps have been taken to make the town livelier and to stimulate the local and regional economy through activities, artistic events and diverse promotions.
-
Actual improvements
Since 2005, major investments have been allotted to improve the urban area. Underground cabling on the main commercial arteries, road and sidewalk rehabilitation, addition of new urban furnishings, lighting additions and landscaping are all projects which have already been completed. As well, since the end of 2008, the entrance to the downtown area has undergone a facelift with the addition of a roundabout.
As well, businesses serving the region such as Wal-Mart, Canadian Tire, Provigo, Metro and the SAQ, are set up in surrounding areas in order to fulfill the population’s needs for commodity products.
